is this because I never had a child and I believe the Mirena is for people that have had kids.

Its perfectly normal to have cramping for one to two weeks after insertion. Just take some Advil or other anti-inflammatory pain killer and try to relax. You can use stick on heating pads purchased from a drug store to help relieve the pain as well. Its normal to still have occasional cramping even months after insertion.

Should you have sharp pains, heavy bleeding that doesn't stop and you can feel plastic at the opening of your cervix you should call your doctor IMMEDIATELY as you might be expelling the IUD.

The Mirena isn't just for women that have had children. Even women that have never been pregnant can use it after being measured and examined by a OB/GYN to ensure proper fit.

No, not because you have not had a child...The mirena is a foreign object implanted in your uterus. Your body has to get used to. I have had my mirena for six monthes and LOVE it. It is, by far, the easiest form of birth control I have ever tried! I mildly cramped for a few weeks. My ob-gyn did recommend another visit if the pain was awful because the body is rejecting it at that point, but she did specify that the cramping would be more like going through labor and not period cramping (since you've not been through labor, imagine a 500 lb weight on your lower abdomen and someone jumping on the weight). She did mention a lot of spotting at first with this also, I spotted for 3-4 days and then just had my first period last week, which was very mild (panty liner mild) for 3 days. LOVE IT!

first you should never have been given an mirena because it can cause fertility probs in the future. it is for women who have had a child. as for the cramping, that is normal. i have had mine for about 16 months and had cramping off and on for several months along with btb. give it a chance,i love mine. i have not had a cycle in months and its wonderful. but if you think something does not feel right ask your Dr to do an u/s to see if it is still in position.

I have had mine in for 2 years and I LOVE IT! I do remember that when I first got it IT HURT! and I thought it was terrible the first day and then each day I would get an annoying cramp but it was over quick and that only was off and on for a month and since I dont even feel it. It's great and I have had no kids.
Highly reccomend
