had to do a major recovery recently, now i cant install ie 7 and a friend has sent me microsoft office 2003 and that wont install either. i am running xp compaq sr1705 with avg antivirus, spyware doctor (not in realtime) ashampoo win optimizer 2007 zonealarm firewall, having problems with lavasoft adaware as well it will scan and stop at 79,000 any suggestions

boot to windows cd and do a full format and start again

Hey,
Do you get an error message? if so what is it. I am sure with such info it would be a lot easier to get to the root of the problem and thus putting a solution together.
Your system may not be suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications, something to do with a 16bit windows subsystem and a 32bit..........and so and so.

Have one antivirus one pop up blocker and try again
