You have a loose belt. When damp, it will tend to slip more. It could also be a water pump or other accessory that is going bad and doesn't want to turn at first. ♥

Others are right, checking the belt tension is a good idea, but not necessarily the cause of momentary squealing. It could happen due to spilt fluids (coolant is a frequent culprit) or, as one other pointed out, from just plain water getting on the belt (from rain, driving over a puddle, condensation, etc.). Once it's started up and going at a few thousand rpm's, friction burns this off, so the squealing stops. That said, if the belt is in good shape, tension is good, and you know that (and what) fluid is getting on the belt, I'd leave this problem be. If the belt squeal is from coolant - keep in mind that these fluids cause premature wear on the belt, so you'll want to keep a close eye depending on how much got on them.

If you have a belt tensioner, you can't adjust the belt.
Buy some belt dressing and spray it on the belt...if the squeak goes away, the belt needs replacing...if the squeak is still there, you have a bad pulley or alternator bearing.
More than likely it is a belt...bearings usually make a loud buzzing or grinding noise...but squeaks are not uncommon.

Your vehicle has basically one accessory belt so do no longer difficulty approximately attempting to locate "secret belts" that others are advising you to seem for. everyday motives of a squealing serpentine belt at initiate-up is the computerized spring loaded belt belt tensioner. while the hot serpentine belt is got rid of turn all accessory pulleys to ascertain there at the instant are not any binds, bushing or bearing matters with any of the pulleys. If the pulleys are all ok i might very almost guarantee in case you replaced the serpentine belt tensioner pulley your difficulty may be solved. Make darn particular you have the marvelous length and width serpentine belt. i've got considered junk belts from vehicle Zone these days that at the instant are not huge sufficient to be pushed via the crankshaft orcontinual each and all of the upload-ons. consistently specify Dayco Belts from Carquest, NAPA your GM broking or improve vehicle.

If you can just run your finger across the back of each belt and you can feel it if it is worn. Be sure the car is off. My airconditioner belt was worn and so I cut it off until next summer. I do not need it now. chances are I will need more freon next summer anyway. If another belt is worn you will need to replace it.

Probably means that you have a belt loose. Do NOT use belt goop as it makes a mess of your engine compartment. Go through the trouble and tighten it.

Could be either the fan belt is worn or needs tightening... or your power steering fluid level has dropped some and needs topping-off.
