nearly wrapped up filming and yet they are making us wait until July to see? 8 months? Because for the other movies it's never been this long, maybe 4 months max. Anyone know why?

My guess would be marketing. July is a good time for children to be taken to the movies, so more people coming in will generate more sales. Also, there is alot of editing and special effects that will need to be integrated into the film, and a new editor/director may take longer to do this than the others.

Historically with Harry potter films, thry are each released 18 months apart. So OoTP being released in July, means they can do a Thanksgiving 2008 release for The Half-blooded Prince. Then we cna expect the final movie to be July 2010.

Because a huge amount of work still has to happen after filming, such as editing, special effects, scoring, etc. If they released movies right after filming they would suck. A big movie like that takes several months to finish post production. Plus, they may be waiting for the summer because that will be the best time (most profitable) to release a big film like that.

probably because of adding special effects and editing. that's usually why it takes so long after filming ends for a movie to actually be released.

I have no idea why, but am READY FOR THE MOVIE TO COME OUT. I am going through Harry withdrawls. I love these movies and watch them all of the time. My two children (6, 15) like them as well, but no one likes them as much as me.

Waiting until the July holiday weekend when they will get the biggest bang for their buck.
