I'm a Philosophy Major and I'm currently taking Philosophy of Humor. My professor and I get along well and he informed me that I could do an alternative project in class...instead of a term paper. I want to do a video, but I'm having trouble coming up with stuff that I could do in my hometown. Obviously it has to be funny and I would like it to be 10 minutes long. Any ideas?

Well it would be helpful to know where you live. Perhaps there is something humorous in your location that you can delve into. This may be slightly over done, but you could do a fake reality show, and make fun of a certain group of people, who perhaps meet each other to talk Philosophy. You could do a fake documentary on the lives of people who use Yahoo Answers! That could be pretty funny!
Have fun, sounds like a really neat project!

Philosophy of HUMOUR?

Now I've heard everything.

I've heard of philosophical jokes (no.. not "Hegel"!) But never a philosophical study of humour.
Why not do a "stand up" video? One joke, but lots of people telling it and you can discuss why the same joke is sometimes funny and sometimes not.

Below is a link to some philosophy jokes, my favourite is:

Q: How many Analytic Philosophers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None - it's a pseudo-problem ... light bulbs give off light (hence the name) ... if the bulb was broken and wasn't giving off light, it wouldn't be a 'light bulb' now would it? (oh, where has rigor gone?!)
