Does the current PC fit your needs? Is it getting slow at all for what you are using it for? If so, then it may be best to buy a new PC. Generally getting rid of a virus is not too tough. It can be frustrating, but if you stick to it you will be able to. As stated above, 5 years for a PC is a long time, even if the PC was top of the line.

buy new pc. it coss less than $1000 to get a new one, install the latest anti-virus. I think your pc got a virus because your pc is too old. old pc are most likely to be catched by a virus

Try resolving the problem first, reformatting your computer should be the last resort!! And, I hope you have backups of your files, because if you try to back it up now - you might transfer that virus (or w.e) to the other hard drive, and then infect other computer, etc.

download the free avg antivirus and antispyware also adaware update them and run them in safe mode wait till january before buying a new pc the new (horrible) vista will be out then
on the other hand new pc's are cheap right now

a re-format is a last resort there are programs that will get rid of those things for ya download windows defender install and do a full scan it's gonna take awhile so be patient
