Be thankful! All 3 of mine barely uttered a peep when they were infants. They're making up for it in spades!

I dont think it is anything to be concerned about. My baby is 7 months old and she is just starting to do the be be be de de de ma ma ma thing. I read that she should have been doing that around 5 months but she didnt. She doesnt cry much either. Does she make any noise at all? Mine did make other sounds like ahhhhhhh or just let out a weird yell but, shes normally a quiet girl. She is developing great in all other aspects. So, if your baby seems ok as far as everything else goes then dont worry about it. If there are a few other things she isnt doing that she should be doing then you may want to get concerned. Definately mention it at your next check up but I wouldnt make a special trip.

Some babies are more quiet than others. Some are also slower to develop. This does not mean your child is slow. Make no mistake. My son was like that. My teenage daughter would say He's like a smiling lump. Then I had my third child and she just wished this one was a lump. As she put it. This one is a demanding baby. My son is now three years old and he is right where he should be. He was slow at speech development, but is learning new things everyday. He is even potty training. Boys in my opinion are slower to develop. I dont know if your child is a boy or a girl. Some say that is an old wives tale. If your child is concerning you you could have his/her hearing tested. I had mine done at 2. He had two ear infections back to back. His hearing was fine. Remember Einstein did not talk until he was four years old. Just enjoy your baby. They are all different.

Every baby develops at a different speed and this could be normal for your baby. However, that being said, this could also signal a developmental delay/issue or a hearing problem. Does your baby make eye contact with you? Does he/she react to your voice? Does he appear to hear you? If he is making eye contact and reacting to your voice, then he may just not be vocal yet. Some babies are really quiet. Either way though, I think I would take it up with your pediatrician as it could signal a problem such as hearing loss or autism. If you can't afford to take your baby to the doctor, you may try calling the hospital where you had the baby and ask to speak to a nurse in the maternity or pediatric ward. They may be able to give you some reassurance or guidance.

Yes, you should take your baby to a doctor. Even if there is nothing wrong, it won't hurt to go for a checkup. The doctor may want to do a hearing test or other tests. It is true that babies develop at different rates, but why not reassure yourself or find out if there's a problem..it's worth a bit of your time.

Some Babies are very quiet, some very loud. If you have concerns go to your Doctor and He/She can refer you to a Pediatrician with a background in Infant Psychology. You can start right now by going to an On-line Medical Library.

All the best...

I have three children. My oldest was a loud baby, my middle child never made noise and she is now 2 years old and she just started talking not to long ago and there is nothing wrong with her, and my youngest is 5 months and he isn't as vocal as my oldest was but he makes more sound than my 2 year old did. I think it just depends on there personality.

Don't get too worried.Have you had her hearing tested? Just remember, all children have different rates of development.
She might decide to make up for it later on,and then you'll think "oh, for the days....".It's like the parents who start with complaints that the baby is taking "forever" to walk, only to to turn around to wail that the former "slow walker" has started tearing around the place like a flipping drag racer!

Keep it real ;-)

by 6 months your baby should be responding to the sound of your voice with coos, laughing, and babbling. She should also be responding to loud noises by looking at the sound or being startled by the sound and crying go to the dr and have the babys hearing checked.

Maybe you should take you child to a doctor just to put your worries at ease. I'm sure your child is fine. No baby is the same.
