My 5 month old son has a terrible cold too. He sleeps until he coughs. I've just been giving him meds. and hoping it goes away soon. I don't think there is really anything you can do. Just wait until it goes away.
Good luck. Hope she feels better soon.

Colds are a huge bummer with infants. I used to buy the menthol bath lotions for my baby when she was little. They used to make a huge difference. A dehumidifier makes a huge difference also, I used to run mine all day whatever room she was in. As far as the coughing, check with your pharmacist for a night time cough remedy which they do have for 6 month olds. My grandmother always swore that if you cut and onion and place it beside the baby's bed, it keeps them from coughing at night. Would be worth a try. Best of luck to you, and I hope your little one is feeling better soon!

Unfortunately, you have to just try to get through this. I know it is hard staying up with a baby night after night. It will get better. Try some pediacare infant drops. I have had three children and even though these say consult a physician. I just gave the baby a 1/4 tsp. It will help When I told the doctor I did this he said that is fine. Unfortuanely you have to try to sleep while the baby is sleeping even if this means sleeping sitting up in a chair. You will get through this. I will pray for you and your baby. God Bless.

My baby is also sick right now, and has been for a few weeks. We have taken her to 5 different doctor's and consulted a paediatrician and they all same the same thing, "let it run it's course". As far as helping her sleep, definitely try a cool mist humidifier. Gerber has a soothing eucalyptus bath cube to help de-congest her. Johnson's also has a soothing eucalyptus cream to rub on her neck and chest - same idea as the Vics VapoRub but safe for babies. It sounds like your daughter has the same thing as mine. The cool mist humidifier has worked the best for us so far to help her coughing. Good luck with everything!

Take her to her pediatrician today. She could have asthma or bronchitis. She could also have an ear infection. They will check her out and put her on the appropriate medications and you will be sleeping at night again in no time.

Always remember, it only takes one night to make a habit with a baby. So the longer she continues to wake up at night, the longer it will take to get her to sleep through the night again.

I cant remember the exact name, but Johnsons has a baby wash that is for babies who are congested and it has like the menthol rub type smell. my 5 month old just got over a terrible cold (exactly as yours, no fever, etc.) and I bathed him with that twice (skipping a night in between) and it really seemed to help him clear up. the bottle is green and should be with the other baby wash. please let me know if this helps you out as well as it did us!

obvisously first thing is first, take her to a pediatrician. To help her sleep better, you should hold her with your hand under her head and neck, and rub that area there, and rock her... putting your hand in that area stimulates what you can PNS mode, which is a relaxation mode that the brain sends chemicals down the spine.

(Thats why they say never meditate laying down, because you will fall asleep)

I am so sorry for you two. Try a vaporizer. That may soothe her. Maybe you could try a tiny dab of vaporub mixed with olive oil on her chest. Good Luck!!!
