YA RIGHT! Thats what I said too! This woman told me her baby was walking, yes walking unassisted at four months old. I thought she was full of it. I didnt say that to her because I didnt want to be so rude. But, I think she was lying to me and that is even more rude right? Do think she was lying? This is impossible right? Or am I just being close minded?

After reading a few responses I wanted to add that, her baby is now an adult so, theres no proof. Also, she said he was walking with no one helping, he just got up and walked....I think she's nuts! :) But that may be because I have a 7 month old just learning to crawl and Im impressed with that. As I was happy that she was rolling over and sitting on her own at 4 months, I could never imagine walking or even crawling at 4 months.

babies do not have the physical stregnth needed to walk at this age the baby is probably still showing signs of infant reflex that will go away soon. Basically if you hold any infant so the feet are on a table or floor they will do some sort of running/walking motion with the legs - normal reflex- just like the startle reflex- and the swimming reflex they do stop around 4 to 6 months

I don't think it's possible. The earliest I've heard is 8-9 months. She may be referring to just being able to take steps while holding the baby's waist and making him stand, but I seriously doubt the development of a 4 month old can lead to taking actual steps on their own.

I think she was lying. I have a 5 month old son and he walking in his walker at 4 months but I really don't think a 4 month could walk on its own.

I don't know if it's possible, but I wouldn't put too much stake in it. If the baby walks that early, he probably didn't crawl first, and crawling is essential to correct mental development. Most kids who don't crawl end up with some sort of mental deficiency. Some people really like to brag about their kids and might exaggerate.

I think at 4 months I would say the mother is full of it too,but MY third daughter who is now 10 months old was walking un-assisted since she was 9 months old! At every doctors visit the doctor pulls out her growth chart and tells me she's fine on her weight she now weighs 18 1/2 pounds and they say she is above the normal range when it comes to her height. I get responces of mis-belief in stores when women tell me "she's so cute, how old is she?"and I tell them 10 months and they all respond to me: "she,s 10 months old !!" she looks like she's a year old and a few months!"
My daughter has a very strong build! If I put her in boy clothing they wouldn't know any difference because of her build! I'm tellin you!

I dont think it's impossible. And to the mother of four who said a baby barely holds his head up at four months....that may be true for your kids, but i know all babies dont develop like yours do. My son is not even four months yet, and he holds his head up just fine. And he WILL stand for long periods of time holding on to something. I definitely dont see him walking anytime soon especially cause when he is standing, he is perfectly content just standing and he is not trying to go anywhere....
but nothing is impossible.

according to my mother...I was walking at 6 months with NO help (I also have a scar on my head to prove that my walking ability wasn't great) I never crawled, and by the way have NO mental problems what so ever

That's impossible, my son is 4 months old and likes with help, but certainly couldn't do that by himself.
