There could be many reasons for this.
Make sure you have the seperate accounts setup properly.
Freezing screens are most commonly caused by out of date Video Card drivers. Check with your computer manufacturer or Video Card manufacturer and make sure you have the latest (non-beta) drivers for your computer.
If you cannot get a newer driver then here is a workaround that might help with this problem:
1.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.
On the left side of the Control Panel select the Classic View> now click Display icon, click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.
3.
Click the Performance or Troubleshooting tab (depending on your operating system), and then reduce hardware acceleration a notch at a time until your system stabilizes.

It is probably because it is old and it can't handle the switch of the users so fast. So then it freezes because it can't handle it.
