I think I am pregnant but a test taken last night ws negative, as was the last one I took 3 weeks ago. I do plan to see a doctor, so am not relying on this, but am curious, how far along were some people into their pregnancies while still getting negative results on home pregnancy kits and also, if you could name the brand you were using; I used Superdrug own brand ones...

I would also agree; it is virtually unheard of to get false positives; but false negatives are heard of. I am hoping I am pregnant in case anyone is wondering. :-)

Chavarr, I know what you are saying...I don't have regular periods so I am not really late as such anyway...I do know you can convince yourself you are and then realise you aren't....I hope I am of course but am not "convinced". I would be disappointed at a negative result of course, though.

This isn't meant to discourage you, but don't trick yourself into believing you are pregnant just because you want to be. I did this, and it drove me crazy for months. I went 4 months without a period and wanted to get a positive test, but they were always negative. I think I may have delayed my period by tricking myself into thinking I was pregnant. Your emotions have a huge effect on when you get your period. A lot of women told me stuff like this and I didn't want to hear it, but it ended up that they were right. This isn't to say that you are not pregnant and that false negatives don't exist - they just aren't as common as women want them to be, if that makes sense. Good luck!! I hope you get what you want.

I used CVS and got a negative, later that night I used Answer from Wal-Mart and got a giant positive and quickly. I was about 3.5 weeks, or 10 to 11 days after ovulation. You might be pregnant, my best friend used every test under the sun (we seriously spent a TON of money on them) and got a negative result until she was 11 weeks along! Her hormone level was way low and they told her she would lose the baby, he's now 6 months old and amazing :) Don't give up hope, but rely on the blood test at the dr.'s.

Firstly I'd like to respond to the inaccurate answer above. It is possible and common to get false negatives, it is virtually unheard of to get a false positive.

Now on to the question, some people have false negatives all the way through their pregnancy and only get a positive result by having a blood test. The reason is because the Human Pregnancy Hormone does not show up in some women's urine for a while.

Good uck.

A friend used a clear blue that was negative when she was actually 6 weeks pregnant, although she'd never had regular periods. I used predictor (pink box, got from Asda) I took 3 tests, one on the day before my period was due, this was negative, then the next day i never came on, so did another test day this was positive and another again 2 days later just for good measure, this was positive, so it is true that they don't work unless you've actually missed a period.

I'm in the same situatuion. I'm 3 days late and took First response early result 2 days before i was due to start, and it was negative. here I am 3 days later and took the same brand of test this morning with first morning urine, and it was still negative. I know that it's more of a chance to have false negatives rather than false positives because there might not be enough HCG in your urine to detect. Flase positves usually mean a miscarriage. Best of luck to you!

Actually the opposite is true, you cannot have false positives. But it is very possible to have a false negative. That is when there is not enuff HCG hormone in your body to be detected with a home pregnancy test. The best thing to do, is wait until you see your doctor. The blood test will give you the proper answer you are looking for. Best of luck to you!

U may not be getting enough urine on the stickso do it in a clean container and put the stick in for however long says on instructions probabaly 20-30 secs goodluck:)

You can have false negatives but never a false positive. Go to the doc's and get a blood test to be sure. But if you tested three weeks ago and last nite, you are probably not pregnant. Good luck hun.

hey,
I got false negatives up until i was 8 weeks!! It was so obvious i was pregnant from my symptoms but it wouldnt show up so hang in there chick and try again in a few days, HCG rises every few days. If your still unconvinced you can always go to your doctor and request a blood test as these are much more accurate and will show up 7-12 days after conception.
Good luck xx

I bought mine at the 99 cents store both times I was pregnant and they both worked, I was about 3 1/2 weeks with both. You should go to the doctor, I hope you are, goodluck!
