Yes, a person needs to be born in the 50 states to become president. The Constitution DOES NOT say a person born overseas can run for president. Example if your parents were born in the U.S. but you were born in Saudi Arabia, that would make you a Saudi Arabian citizen, not an American, even if you were born in a U.S. military base, therefore you cannot run for president.

No, they do not need to be "born" in the US, but they do need to be born a US citizen. Meaning they must either be born in the US, in a foreign country to parents that are citizens of the US, or born on a ship that sails under the US flag (considered US territory at sea).

An excerpt from teh US Constitution, Article II, Section 1:
"No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States."

No. A person is required to be born a citizen, i.e. a naturalized citizen can never qualify, but one can be born an American citizen even if he or she are not born on American soil. For example, a person whose parents are both U.S. citizens is a natural born citizen no matter where he or she is born.

John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone and nobody is saying he is ineligible. You can be born anywhere, as long as you were born a US citizen.
