i would say no.
it is a community holiday.
it is loosely based on a harvest festival.
it is based on swahili, a nontribal language.
there are certain days, each has a theme.
of course we celebrate kwanzaa at church.
so it is affiliated in that way.
kwanzaa was invented by dr maulana karenga (i think that's how you spell it) in the 1960s intended to unify the african american community.

Kwanzaa's religious affiliation goes back to celebrating the earth as a sort of "god" - giver of good things.

However, today it really is more about being grateful for the abundance we share and sharing with others that we love.
