1. Go to Network Connections (Control Panel > Network Connections)
2. If your PC is wireless enabled, an adapter called Wireless Network Connection will be present. You can use this to connect to wireless networks.

not always the most useful but if mean has your PC got wireless built in then all you need to do is look for a label. on laptops Intel Centrino. Centrino Duo or Celeron M, or any Intel Logo with an M on the side normally means that it is wireless enabled.

in general laptops centrino or celeron

pc's always celeron

there will be other types out there though, but centrino is designed for laptops, because it makes batteries last longer etc...

which a pc dont need. lol.

Depending on your operating system, look in Control Panel for System, then click on Hardware, then on Device Manager. Look at the Network Adapters. If it says there is an Ethernet adapter there, then you have wireless capability. The Ethernet connection looks like a telephone plug on the back of your computer tower, but it's much larger, and the cable is much larger than a telephone cable.

Many wireless connections today use USB; mine does. My wireless connection plugs into one of the USB ports. If you have one or more USB ports, then you can also have wireless. Hope this helps!

Right click on My Computer, click on Properties.
Click on Hardware, click on Device Manager.
See if theres the word Wireless or Wifi in any device under "Network Adapters".
If there is, your computer is probably wireless enabled.

Go Start -> Run.
Type in 'cmd'
In the command line window that opens up
Type in 'ipconfig /all'
Look for "Ethernet adapter .... Description"
One of the descriptions will say something like "Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection" if you have a wireless card onboard.

almost all of window is able to use WiFi LAN. Windows XP can search for a WiFi LAN automatically.

Now is your computer have the hardware to be wifi capable,

lets see.....

> start >(right click) my computer > properties > On [System Properties] click [Device Manager] on the [Device Mangager] look for Network adapters,,,, click the plus to expand the catagory. your computers network devices will be listed there, for WiFi look for 'wireless LAN' behind one of the devices.

if you have it listed you have wireless LAN abilities,

you will still need a WiFi LAN network to comunicate with.

Hope this helps.
