There are a lot of children in my enighborhood and their parents let them run around everywhere. My yard has taken on a lot of abuse. I want to have a picket fence, but is it legal to have one? i know it has to be 10 ft away from the begining of the grass because that is the governments. people in my neighborhood have gettysburg fences, but it is still a fence. Please help.

You have to check with your local building department. Location and size and type of fences are regulated by the zoning ordinances. You should also consider living fence, densely planted plants evergreen which are effective way to keep children away and might be usually planted at the property line.

You need to check with your city government. I know that in my town no fencing is allowed in the front yards. Not even picket fences. If fences are not allowed, you might check to see if a hedge is allowed.

Check with the Building permit department at you Town Hall. They can tell you. I'm almost positive it's ok.
