I'm a programmer, hardware guy..... what not... but I'm confused!

What does 'HDD' stand for?
1. Hard Disk Drive (I knew this)
2. High Density Disk (I read it in a 'Quiz Book')

The answer is "yes". It has been used for both. But as high density floppy disk are becoming a thinkg of the past, it is more often used to refer to the hard drive today. Must be an older quiz book if it has high density disk listed.

HDD does stand for hard disc drive (see website below), but a high density disk is defined as being "capable of holding more data than a double-density disk. High-density 5¼-inch disks for PCs can hold 1.2MB (megabytes) of data. High-density 3½-inch disks can store 1.44MB" (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/H/high_density_disk.html)

So the HDD is the hard disk drive, which you knew, but a high density disk hold more data than an average disk.

HDD is now commonly refered to the hard disk drive but used to but used to refer to 3and a half inch floppies for having the high density format
