You will not need a southbridge water cooler, southbridge never gets that hot, however for northbridge you might.

Now just so we are clear, watercooling is a system, you don't install pieces individually. The most important thing to watercool is the processor itself, and in order to do that you need to install a pump, a radiator, a watercooling block on the processor etc. So once you have all of that in place, I see no reason why not to spend the extra $30-$40 on a northbridge water cooler as well.

Now beyond that, as other people are pointing out, I am not sure why you are buying AMD to do extreme overclocking, since the Core 2 Duos are much more suited to that. As for what you said, AMD has not been a leader in graphics, because AMD doesn't do graphics, neither does Intel. They do processors, nVidia and ATI do graphics.

To get the most out of it, yes you will need to water cool it. You can only get so high on an air cooled system. Just a quick question, why are you getting an AMD to overclock. The Intel Core 2 Duo's are the best overclockers out now. I say this with a heavy heart too, I am an AMD guy.

Dont get me wrong. I have only used an AMD processor for the last 10 years. They just can not hold up against the next generation intel processors. Go to any benchmark site, the AMD 64 X2's can not touch the Intel Core 2 Duo's. Especially since you are overclocking.

Oh and by the way, AMD just got into the graphics business with the purchase of ATI.

Why might i'd like a Water cooled computing gadget while a typical one works alright ? perchance, next you would be suggesting liquid Nitrogen cooled computing gadget. in reality, the Water cooled computing gadget replaced into an thought that did no longer locate too many takers. because of the fact via the time the water cooled computing gadget developed and took roots each and all of the computing gadget makers have been already onto the subsequent generartion of Low Voltage ingesting and espresso warmth emitting processors. on the comparable time it is going to be suggested that thre processors additionally grew to grow to be extra effectual and swifter with extra transistors according to chip. This made the desktops smaller and swifter mutually as the warmth emitted have been given decrease.

Caution...you may cook your board if you're not careful. Yes you should definitely watercool it, fans sometimes don't do the job right. Like I said, caution! Many people have lost boards this way.
