I'm doing an experiment where I expose yeast cells to cell phone radiation to see if any mutations will occur, and I need to know a good way to keep the yeast cells alive for an extended period of time (possibly one week or longer).

Yeast can grow on all sorts of agar plates. They don't need fancy cell culture conditions like mammallian cell lines do.

http://www.midsci.com/docs/qbio/ChapterPDF/EU_04.pdf#search='media%20for%20yeast%20growth' those guys sell some yeast growth media.

A kind I've used before is SAB (per liter: 40g glucose/10g peptone/5g agar).

I would go with agar plates instead of liquid culture because it will be easier to insure uniform exposure. The yeast should also remain viable for longer on plates than in liquid culture.

This sounds like a clever idea for an experiment, good luck.

Not sure how yeast are grown..But I grow mammalian cancer cell line (HeLa, SiHa, Caski). What i reckon would be that you wold require some sort of medium for nutrient. A surface for the cells to adhere and attach (T flasks maybe?).

You might wanna change medium every 2-3 days as well because cells may die, Wash with 1XPBS will do.

You should keep the cells stored in a CO2 incubator as well I suppose? Hope this helps

If you have the ability to make culture media and sterilize it, there are lots of different media that yeast grow and live on very well. Media can also be bought from Carolina, Wards and other biological supply companies. They can grow and live in simple cultures of something like a little flour and sugar and water, too.

that is an infection. curd-like for yeast? that is. you should undergo extra lab checks to verify it. more effective yet, ask a well-being care specialist in my opinion.... they recognize what to do with it..
