Zifnab!
He is a senile wizard in the Death Gate Cycle books written by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weiss. These are excellent books (a series of 7) and Zifnab is hysterical, forgetful, and always arguing with his Dragon!

How about Taliesin? He was the Chief Bard of Britain. Some considered him to be a Wizard.

Check out a couple of great books:
The Pendragon Cycle, by Stephen Lawhead (Trilogy)

And then this book by Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Mists of Avalon. (Here Taliesin is actually Merlin.)
