Is makeup more for vanity or does it help feel better mentaly about yourself?

For me it is something that makes me feel a little more confident about myself. My mother always wore it and she kind of taught us that is me and my sister to start wearing it around 12 yrs of age. So it kind of sent a negative message that if you don't use it you are a "plain jane" so to speak. Yes of course it is also vanity. It is only human nature as most females feel that it will attract the opposite sex. Yes I know some men do not like the way a women looks with make-up but I have never had a problem with that....just don't make yourself look like a clown and overdo. I have gotten many compliments on my eyes especially...which gives me a positive feeling and boosts the ego a bit. Anyways we see that extreme makeover and you have to admit that some of those women that get transformed are enhanced by the make-up and not just the way they change the body parts..I do not think a women who went through all of that grueling transformation is going to look as good if they were to come back w/o make-up it is the final touch and just goes along with the whole picture.

It is a vanity but if it makes you feel more confident with it on then it is also a self confindence booster. What you wear can greatly improve your mood, it does mine. I feel like a princess with makeup on and the right close make me feel even better

To me, its almost more of protecting myself. I don't even like to run to the grocery store without makeup. Very few people see me without make up, and those are the people that I am close to. For everyone else, make-up helps me put on a "protective mask" almost to let them see what I want them to see.

It definitely makes me feel better about myself. Its amazing, on a weekend when I'm at home, I don't have to put on make up, but for some reason I find that I feel better when I do.
