Your mother needs to learn how to manage her finances-especially dealing with money. Your mother needs to put herself on a budget and stick to it-so that way, she won't dig a deeper hole for herself. I understand that you want to help your mother get out of debt, but that's NOT your problem! Besides, she's the one who's gotten herself into this mess-not you! Good luck to you and I hope my advice will help!

My mom had financial difficulties due to illness and out of work. We ended up giving her, along with my siblings, an allowance every month. And between us we paid for the big bills like a new roof. I think it depends on why your mom is broke, if it's a gambling problem or a shopaholic, just let her be broke. If it's illness and out of work, see if you can help.

I had the same problem with my parents. I had to learn to let go if I was going to have anything for my family. Had to finally cut them off with money and move forward my self.
