That him and his corrupt administration would be investigated about lying to the American people about starting the war in Iraq? OR did he just want the Republicans to keep control?

More than likely a little of both. Mind you that would mean that there were 2 thoughts in his head at the same time so I rather doubt the first reason. Seriously though, of course Bush as leader of the Party campaigned for control , every president campaigns during mid-term elections. As far as his worrying about having his administration investigated, he believes he is right and lives by the Alfred E. Newman philosophy"What? Me worry?" All I hope is that at least now there are some checks in place and other voices(other than God) will be heard.

Both. Why else do you think Rumsfeld resigned/got fired the day after the election?

I saw quotes in an article about Rumsfeld from Bush, Cheney, Rove, and Bush's Chief of Staff. The Chief of Staff wanted to get rid of Rumsfeld a long time ago, but Rove and Cheney wanted to keep him because they figured that replacing him would lead to investigations into the Iraq War which they didn't want. Bush went along with Cheney and Rove.

Since the Republicans lost, the Bush administration needed to get rid of Rumsfeld and replace him before the Democrats take over. The replacement won't be investigated nearly as bad by the Republicans while they are still in control. And if Rumsfeld was still in place when the Democrats take charge it would tie responsibility back directly to the White House.

With Rumsfeld gone the White House can use Rumsfeld as a scape goat.

Nixon did almost the same thing in Watergate: fired a guy then tried to make him the scape goat.

I think he would have campaigned any way but Donald Rumsfeld jumping ship while the getting is good may alarm him somewhat but it's difficult to say . At best he'll be investigated and hung out as an example of how not to act and at worst he'll be impeached in spite of the early rhetoric to the contrary.

President George W. bush campaigned so hard because he believes in what he is doing. It is not different than Bill Clinton, John Kerry who campaigned on what they believed. Why harp on the record of Bush? Let's talk democrats.....mmmmmmm

He definitely fired Rumsfeld hours after Nancy Pelosi became the next Speaker, and warned everyone about the upcoming investigations
