Moreover, I found two Muslim webpages which DENY that Will Smith embraced Islam. The first is a longer article about and tribute to Muhammad Ali, stating:
A legend in every sense of the word, boxing's darling, former World Heavyweight Champion and legend to this day, Muhammad Ali, is acted by Hollywood megastar Will Smith in a film called 'ALI' which hits the 'silver screen' in February.
... An internet rumour stating that Will Smith converted to Islam, after the making of 'ALI' the film, was dismissed to his publicist saying he is not a Muslim but was sympathetic towards Muslims after the making of the film. Well, sympathy towards Muslims is still good isn't it ?!! ... This is pretty decisive and should settle the issue. One more Muslim statement confirming that this was a hoax, is a posting on a web discussion forum:

I believe that Muslims should be aware and respond to good & bad news. He's still aces with me. Are you implying something derogatory based upon a man's choice of religion? I hope not, because just as with any religion — Christians, by the way, have been responsible for millions of deaths in the name of God throughout modern history — there are extremes and fanaticism. Will Smith is no better or worse, no wiser or contemptible, than anyone else because of what he chooses to believe in. When we proclaimed this is as a free country, it didn't mean just for those who certain narrow minded people happen to like.

Personally, I don't care what the religion of anybody is, it is a personal choice and I don't think its nobody's business discussing it. If your intend is to be a good person, any religion is not better than the other, cause after all that is the main theme of religion, to create a better society and better people.
If choosing Islam is whats making you wonder, I don't know, I'm a muslim and I watch a lot of christians and jews and all kinds of people and religion on TV and as long as they're producing good shows I don't care what religion they are following.
I've always liked Will especially in "Ali" where I think he did some of his best acting ever.

Nothing. His religious choice has nothing to do with me. If he makes a good movie, then I'll watch it. Now if he was trying to convince the world like Tom Cruise that Islam is the way to go and it's the best..................Then Huston we have a problem.

i got no problem with him. Or his religion. Except for his acting. (which I DON'T LIKE! Every movie he does, he's trying to be the "funky fresh prince" in every role.) The same goes to Queen Latifah, Ice T, Ice Cube, ice water, ice cream, cool whip and all them other wanna bees.

it is his decision and we should respect it. if he found peace in islam so be it. islam should not be synonymize with terrorism nor ostracize smith for his decision.
