Ok people, help a girl out.

I have a 2000 Honda Civic. I need to get under the hood. The hood (like most freakin things on this car) is now broken. No reason. Just all of a sudden the hood latch won't pop the hood. It makes this funny little noise but it won't pop the hood. Grrrr.

How the hell am I supposed to get the freakin hood open??? I have no money. I need to do this myself.

Plllleeeeeaaaasssseeee help!!

no sweat...crawl under the front bumper and loosen the lower section of the bumper cover, reach up and pull on whats left of the hood release cable, after replacing cable you need to keep the hood latch lubricated

Get some white lithium grease, in the spray can, and lube the hood latch under the hood. After applying the grease, open and full close the hood a few times to work it into the parts of the latch and that should take care of the problem. You can also use it on the hood and door hinges and the door latches to keep them working. White lithium grease is moisture resistant and recommended by most auto manufacturers for use on latches and hinges.

Your release cable is prolly worn.
Have someone esle pull the lever in the compartment.

Get your fingers under the hood and try to jiggle it up.

If this doesn't work get three triangular shaped blocks of soft wood... (No oak or Pine...)

Pry the hood up slowy right... middle left... repeat.... putting in the wedge blocks where you are prying to keep it up.
Eventually you will be able to reach the release lever.

The hood latch on my 99 Honda civic broke and we got it open gently with a crow bar...........you will eventually have to get it replaced.

The cable has probably come loose (like mine) I have had to order a new latch and cable. In the mean time I can't check the oil or water. Take it to a mechanic.
