I would be sure to know what everyone is expected to do in their job and ensure they are on task daily. I'd make sure that I kept my own integrity by not playing favorites, talking about others in a gossiping sort of way with whom I am supervising and making sure people know I have morals, values and ethics. What factors inhibit the workplace? If you have a job to do, the workplace should foster, not inhibit the work to be done. If that is the case, you need to call a meeting with the owners and upper level management to change that situation. Also document, document, document. It may save your own butt someday. CYOA is very important when in any workplace.

Your question is not completed until we know the nature of the work...we all are performing.....if its a shop its different requirements. if its account office or ware house it has their own requirements...but yes being supervisor few things will same like, leadership skills...honesty and present oneself an example.
