You can go through your or their phone service's website and look up texting from PC. They usually have a place you can do that with your email address or phone number. If their phone is hooked up to myspace or yahoo, they can get mobile alerts. Hope this helps! :)

with most prviders, you cannot. with some you can access the phone provider's site and send an sms but even this requires a paid account. If your friend has set his msn or yahoo messenger to 'phone', then you can use these IM apps and send them a short message.
