Hi, i have a 2001 Ford ZX2 (escort) with around 80,000 miles on it. It has the 2.0 DOHC Zetec engine. I am the original owner. For a while now ive noticed that when i come to a stop light or stop sign my oil light will flash on and off for a quick second, it never stays on. Just a couple quick flashes off and on. Then it goes right back out. Then when i come to another stop light it might do it again. It doesnt happen everytime i stop, but it is quite often. This usually doesnt start happening till after the engine has warmed up. I have kept my oil changed every 3000-5000 miles. The owners manual calls for 5W-20 motor oil, ive never even heard of that grade of oil before i bought this car. Could this oil be too thin? It looks like Johnsons baby oil when new! Would it hurt if i tried using a thicker oil?
What could be causing this light to flash on and off?
Other than this the car runs very well.
(Oh and yes, it does have oil in it)

It's probably the oil pressure sensor, but it could also be the oil pump. I'd have it checked just in case. The oil your using is fine and what they design engines to use to save on milage these days.
