Look at all the other famous people who have adopted from foreign countries. I really admire her and wish the media would leave her alone. Does anyone agree?

the press are just a pain in the **** specially the red tops!!!!
Madonna did a good thing and i think we don't know the whole story, the press only tell us the negative and what we need to know!she will ignore them and just get on with her life but it must hurt so much she is only human.

It seemed a bit cynical of her to jump on the "I wanna African baby" bandwagon.

Then there were reports that she had paid her way through the adoption process as under Malawai law foreigners can't adopt. Potential adopters need to have lived in the country for a while and then it still takes months. Madonna had it all sorted out in a few days. Hmmm.

Also the fact that this child already has a family but they are too poor to care for him. Why couldn't she have given them some money so they could have looked after him?! I'd hate to have my child taken away by a rich western person because I was too poor to look after him. It seems really callous for her to do that.

The father is an illiterate peasant and didn't totally understand what was being put to him - he expected his child would be fed and clothed and edcuated and then sent back to him, not taken away for good. It just seems like another case of the rich riding roughshod over the poor.

I just get the impression that African babies are the latest "fashion" craze with the "more money than sense" celeb set, just like Gucci handbags or Manolo Blahnik shoes. They'll be choosing their baby's skin tone to match their accessoreis next.

I don't believe that people are "picking" on Madonna because she is Madonna. I beleive the media is asking two important questions, "Why is Madonna given preferential treatment over anyone else?" and secondly, "Why are the laws of foreign adoption not being adhered to?"

Let's not forget that Madonna is donating money into the country to build an orphanage for the children. To some, this may look like an impropriety - she is donating a huge sum of money to speed up the process of adoption.

The laws for foreign adoption differ from country to country so it's not "fair" to compare this adoption with say, Angelina Jolie.

I think the other factor in this is the father who does not understand the adoption process. His belief was that someone would take his child, feed, clothe, and school them and then send them back to him to work on the farm.

I'm not sure what it is but "Adopting foreign children" seems to be the new rage in "Hollywood" these days. It's unfortunate that these actors and others wanting to adopt foreign babies don't want to adopt nationally, in their own backyard.

There are millions of children in America who are on waiting lists to be adopted. If I were a child in America awaiting to be adopted, I would be pretty darn sad to see other Americans adopting outside of America first.

because the child has a father who didn't understand what adoption meant. In Africa, people send there children off to other families so they can have a good education. They expect their child to come back. Madonna has broken the law. She has to live in Malawi for at least a year, and will then be given an 18 month contact order when she will be interviewed by the authorities who will see how she is getting on with the child. There is a family in the UK who want to adopt their niece who is an orphan but the system is not making it easy for them.

Cause people think just because she is rich & famous that she is doing it for the wrong reasons. I think far play cause what kind of life would this child have if she didn't adopt him.
Really I am all for what Madonna is doing and wish her the best. More than often it is the press that relay all this negitive vibes I'd say the majority of people agree with her adoping this child.
Your damned if you do and you are damned if you don't she wants to enhance someones life that otherwise wouldn't have the education, money etc if she didn't they would say she was mean.

The media are just giving her a bad time because they say her father was still alive so the kid wasnt an orphan and she shouldn't have adopted him. They also say that she quickened up the adoption process because of her star status and didn't do it like everyone else!
The media just like eating your soul and criticising you for stupid things.
Personally i think that she should ignore them and just get on with her life and i totally agree with you, she is doing a wonderful thing by adopting and changing a child's life.

How do you know it's not her herself behind that "bad press" and I always thought Jolie's adoption of Zahara was dodgy, it's not my fault that press don't write about it. Madonna used to always have bad press, she built her career on it, for god's sake. You can't say anything against Madonna. Look at how much stick Lily Allen got when she said people her age don't care about Madonna. Well, I never liked Madonna, I can't see why I shouldn't say it out!

You admire someone that has it in for the Catholic Church and during her concerts I have heard Depicts herself as Christ hanging on the Cross being Crucified? Then There is the fact of celebrity and donating Money to get this child at a much accelerated time than other Regular People?

Privilege she has which us common folks do not. Good for her.

In order to increse their sales, and keep the readers happy the gossip magazins and the press need to have stories, news, and photos. So the Madonna story is another subject for their articals.

Because too many people are too stupid the think of anything interesting to write/talk about. Nobody seems to give a rats a** about the welfare of that little boy. I admire her, too, and know she and her husband would be wonderful parents and provide a wonderful life for him.
