my daughter some times obeying me, but many other times getting angry with me for silly reasons and not talking to me. she knows that i love her, but she is not understanding my love and inturn she is blackmailing my love to her wants and fancies. i dnt know how to handle her. give me some guidelines to keep her in my track, since her father is living away from home due to job needs.
she is using that as her tocken for getting pity from me. but most of the time she is arrogant.

Kids can be so confusing and frustrating at times! I have a 9 yr old daughter, and understand what you mean. I think she is just testing the boundaries, and wants you to be consistent. It's hard, and it's also hard not to give in to them just to keep the peace. But it's very necessary not to let her think she's the queen! I think most of us acted the same way as kids, and now our kids are doing the same things to us. Plus, when they see some of their friends/peers getting more than them, it's hard. I try to use that as a lesson as 'life isn't always fair' - she hates that talk! But it's important to talk to your daughter. Share with her your thoughts and feelings, and allow her to share hers. Maybe these links will help a bit:

Best of luck, and hold strong! That's what she needs most - consistency and love from you.

You are the parent. No kid ever likes their parents after age 5. Parents are the heavies in life. You can love her all you want but she won't your love in any mature fashion for over a decade. Get used to it and start being the boss.

Sounds like you need to show her some "tough love".......who is in charge, you or her? She sounds like a spoiled brat who needs to be put in line. You are the mother so get to work
