I disagree and here are a few of my reasons:
News is knowledge, even if at times false information may leak into the pipeline, we then can determine what is fact from fiction.
"No news" would leave most of humanities basket cases locked into a cycle of perpetual ignorance, somehow, in my opinion, that would not bring "good news" to the rest of us.
Case in point: The religious crusades... have anyone heard any breaking news from God; what side is he pulling for etc..., after all, it's His name the zealots cry out when face to face with death.

I believe that "No new is good news" holds true with a lot of situations. I have learned, that if a person goes to the doctor to get tests done, and you don't hear from the Dr's office, it's a very good idea, to call and find out what is going on.

There are many reasons people may not send news. They could be on vacation, or locked in a trunk in the attic. So, therefore the saying should be "no news is no news," but then it's hardly worth saying.

Agree -- but only as long as you aren't expecting good news... like say- a promotion or a college acceptance, etc.

No. Read some news people. Just because you don't know of the horrors or troubles in the world does not make it good for anyone, it just makes you ignorant of current affairs.
