I'm traveling to East Texas this weekend coming up....and will be driving up to meet my cousin and her new husband for the first time in Texarkana. We've never been there and we're not sure where would be a good place to meet for dinner so we could visit and catch up...maybe do some short window shopping. Anyone have any suggestions??

I haven't spent a whole lot of time there, but it's a nice place. I mostly pass through it on my way to Little Rock.

There's a city history museum there, and there's a mall right off I-30, if that's the type of window shopping you're looking for. There's also a movie theater right off the interstate. The city is growing -- every time I pass through, there's something new.

I've eaten at the Bennigan's off I-30 a few times, and the food and service were always OK.

Texarkana is drowning in chain restaurants. I f you want to go somewhere nice that 's local, Mexican food-Zapatas, Steak- Cattleman's on stateline or Park place. All of these places are kinda pricey. If you are looking for good Italian, Alfredo's is good, but service is kinda iffy, and the owner isn't very nice. Here's some others, Lee's Catfish, Nelly's-Mexican, Ironwood Grill-Steaks and stuff. Also Timothy's has good pizza. Good luck on the window shopping. The new shopping center is Old Navy, TJ maxx, etc. If you are gonna be around during the day, there are some nice antique stores around.

key into the search box, restaurants in Texarkana, Texas (or Arkansas) and it will show you where "rated" places are. I lived there until I was 8 years old and that was a LONG time ago....it's grown a lot and I'm sure you'll find what you want.
