I agree. I think it was Conservatives that switched Civil Unions to GAY MARRIAGE to freak out church goers to vote. Someday America will look back and regret their decisions just like they did with slavery, women and civil rights. This is clearly a violation of church and state. But I think that a grandmother and her caretaking granddaughter should be able to enter into a civil union to if they life together to enjoy the same rights. Family is more complicated these days then a man and a woman and the divorce rate will tell you that.
I DON'T WANT GAY MARRIAGE!!!
You straight people can have it, sit on it, spin, and repeat three times.
AND the fact the conservatives deny gay people marriage only further helps us to "corrupt your children" into polyamourous life styles, cause gay people are so "much cooler" role models. LIKE SEX IN THE CITY!!! and the whole metrosexual trend amoung straight huys so that they can get more punany and justify being players.
Of course, some gays, but especially lesbians would benefit: Adoption, Inheiritance, Medical Insurance and Patient Rights, etc. So I do want Gay Marriage for them (Just not for me---at least at this point in my life).
But actually, here is a nifty solution:
Abolish governement recognized marriages alltogether.
You get a CIVIL UNION at the Court House.
You get the Sacrement of Marriage at a Church.
Then Priests and Ministers could be more selective and curb the divorce rate...But wait, that is how they make money by leaching off social needs. So why don't they let all those rich, over-embellishing, excessive-spending gay people get married and take their money???
Well I am just as happy to keep my $ and my freedom!

How many times are you going to post this same question/rant?
A) Marriage is BOTH a religious as well as a Secular right.
B) Yes I do want to Marry, the only thing that affects my ability to do so is the LAW not the Church. I already have several Religious Institutions that WILL perform the Ceremony but without the Legal backing I might as well have a 2 for 1 coupon to Arby's for all the "good" it will do me.
C) AS I stated before and you continue to casually ignore, does Osama Bin Laden's house being blue reflect badly on you if your house is also blue? No? With Marriage it's the Same exact thing.
Making a Separate category for same-sex marriages, even if they are equal in every way, is accepting the separate drinking fountain, assigned seating on the bus, and all the other separate but equal arguments which were deemed UNCONSTITUTIONAL way back when. My love for my mate and desire to legally bond to the mutual benefit/obligation of us both is in no way less than, more than, or different from that of any other such agreement made by any other couple and should have NO differences made in what it is called regardless of exactly what it is that we have between our legs.

Legal issues are the only thing marriage helps with. Notice I say help...Nothing assures anyones rights as there is a legal way around just about anything if the money is right...so...A commitment is between 2 or more people and if it is honest it will last a life time...even if it has a few re-writes along the way! Family stays family...

Personally I initially thought I was against the Marriage lable, but after the NJ supreme court ruling (I live in New Jersey) I felt kind of dissapointed that they didn't allow marriage and instead are allowing the legislator to make a new term. I am all for equal rights, I think that would make me content, but I think I would like to be "married" a little more.

Im straight and I don't care if anyone gets married or not. Not all straight people "ruined that institution". Just like I don't care if anyone is gay or not. It's up to you to decide your life and noone elses. If anyone that is gay and wants to get married, I say do it. Who cares what bush thinks! He has already screwed up this nation enough.

Marriage should be between people and their church, it is a religeous institution. We need civil unions or some other form that gives us the rights that a married couple have re pension benefits, employee benefits, medical situations, taxes, inheritance etc. Not only don't I think we need to be married, I think the insistence on marriage is hurting us and the liberal, Democrat agenda because it upsets people and makes them come out and vote conservative.
