Try Deb, JC Penney, Macy's, (or any other department store)Marshall's, Ross, TJ Maxx, or even eBay. You can find a formal dress at any of those places for under $100, and sometimes even under $50.
You should really try it on before buying, formal dresses tend to run differently in sizing than normal clothing, so you might be a size 6 in regular clothing, but need an 8 in a formal. You would also want to make sure it hits you at the right places, isn't too low cut, and the skirt isn't too short. Remember, no matter how young you are, this is a company function. You should keep the dress a bit more mature than a prom dress. You want to make sure you aren't making a bad impression on the boss and co-workers, which may come back on you later (or him if it's his company party.)

I know there are plenty of places in a city like Houston to buy a nice but cheaply priced dress. Did you look through the phone book? Or do a yahoo local search for formal wear or attire.

There are many places that you could buy a cute little cocktail dress in a big city like that. Check out your local mall and see what they have to offer. I'd suggest the stores called. Debs, The Rave, JC Pennys, Sears, Koffmans. There's also little stores like Wal*Mart or Target that you could go look around. If not, there's always e-bay that you could go to and see what they have. Most of there stuff is cute and affordable. Good luck =]

Go to www.insiderpages.com. The result will be a list of 47 retail stores within 10 miles of Houston. Before you wear yourself out visiting each one....let your fingers do the walking and call each. Ask them what their price range is for evening or cocktail dresses. Then ask them if they have clearance specials.

If none of the stores listed are within your budget, check out the local J.C. Penny's, Sears, Dillard's. We have several in our area that offer steep discounts on formal wear if it's been in their store longer then 90 days. I can usually find a designer evening gown for pennies on the dollar this way.

Be patient, you'll find what you're looking for.

Try Kohl's (brands like: IZ Byer, Candies, My Michelle), Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Forever 21, JC Penney. I've been to Houston a couple of times and I know they have great little shops you can find cute stuff for cheap. I'm sure you'll find something. Good Luck! :)

Check out your local Salvation army, or consignment shops...you'd be surprised at what you might find there...If not Is there a chain store named ROSS in your area? They have lovely holiday dresses for very low prices...some go for 15 to 20 bucks!
