I think so, and I'm a Democrat. Do you believe him or was he just trying to make nice.

Obviously he's trying to make nice. He's lead the country on a death-train of neo-conservative objectives for the past few years. Now that he doesn't hold all the cards any longer, what else is he going to do, but try and gain some leverage with the possible face of his impending doom?

Early in his Presidency, Republicans were very harsh towards him regarding all the extended efforts he made by trying to please the Democrats.

This was due to his acknowledging the Country was pretty much split between he and John Kerry during the election of his second term.

When he discovered no matter how many compromises he kept attempting, failed, he left them all hanging in the breeze and sought out to do what he felt was right for the American public.

Is he going to go back and try to be accommodating to the Democrats? To a point he will, but to accomplish his goal and his mission, short of being a Lame Duck President, he'll do what he has to in order to finish the tasks at hand.

I don't think America really cares what Bush's feelings are now, since the Democrats have majority of both houses of Congress. The American people are punishing George Bush and his Administration for failure to follow the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Power corrupts and George Bush is one of the finest examples of this with his I'M the "DECIDER" statement. Bush really does stand alone now; because the American people are behind our new Congress we voted into office to change the problems facing America, the Republicans have ignored too long.

You only feel that way because of how the dems have been beaten up in the last few years. It was 12 years ago the last time the dems were in power. Kind of like an abused child...you don't know what 'compromise' and 'making nice' looks like. I mean they were calling us all terrorists and nazis! It's OK, we can all start the healing process now....and think that Bush learned a lesson from the dems for the next election cycle...LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE!

Bush knows the people have rejected his party, and his policies.

The conference was a sign that Bush is going to reach out to the Democrats. That's a good thing for America.

I could not understand a word Bush said. Bush needs to see a Doctor. The Democrats should demand he take a public record physical.

He knows that America has spoken. He is as lame duck as he can be now. What is odd is how he is still lying and getting caught at it in the media interviews. It's to bad we can't fast forward to the presidential elections right now and let him follow rummy out the door.

Playing nice does not work. Standing for your beliefs does. This is what got the Republicans booted.

No. CA's Gov. (D) Grey Davis did that after losing a recall election. He shot up the town too.
