Hi, I was wondering, is it possible for someone to buy a piece land in the USA, UK etc. but have it separate from their law system? For example, if law in your country prohibited you from eating watermelon, would it be possible to buy land in that country and make it so people in the land you own are allowed to eat watermelon? Crude example I know, lol. Cheers guys

Dan

Yes it is possible
What you need to do is build your own island, and declare it a new country. Then you can have your own laws -- even the ones that will let you eat watermelon.

However there is always a risk that some other country will invade your island and annex it.

No. You would have to buy that land from a third world dictator who would grant you autonomy. If you are talking about countries like the US/UK basically anyplace in the 21st century, you would never be allowed to buy a "Prostitution Island".

Tempting isn't it? Sadly, sovereignty is hard to come by. Existing nations do not want new nations.
