You will not get a good answer here. You will get the biased rantings of both parties comprised of emotion and not facts.

The simple answer is,
Democrats tend to want to take care of lower and middle income people 1st. (the average guy) In doing this they believe this will stimulate the ecomomy and benefitl all.
Hence, Unions, civil Rights, social security.
Repulicans believe in "trickle down economics" Meaning, if you take car of corporations 1st,, the benefits will trickle down to everyone.
Hence, corporate tax subsidies, lowering epa standards, etc.
Both of these ideas work in moderation, at times. This is why we need 2 party rule, which we just voted for this week.
The extreme versions of the parties are Democrats and Socialism. And for Republicans are Facism. Both horrible alternatives to our democracy.

According to most people on Yahoo! Answers,
Republicans are dumb and Democrats are smart.
No, wait. I forgot that all of the dumb, uneducated people are stuck in Iraq. I guess I am confused what the differences are. This is soooooo hard!
(Wow! Look at the book someone wrote below me! What Blog did they get that from?) Sheesh.

Democrats are liberal thinkers that believe in strong government control. They believe in strong social programs so that the lazy can become lazier.
Republicans are conservative, believe in limited control, and are strong capitalists. The belief is that businesses should be allowed to operate without the government limiting their operations.

Left is communism and dem's. Right on the political spectrum is fascism and the GOP. Most here are in towards the center more and called liberal and conservative. Moderate is easy going and centrist is neutral and objective. The specific aspects of each you will have to look up yourself.

One is for the rich and their pocketbook, and they don't care how they get it! They usually like to opine that those the have used and thrown out have "Character Defects"!
The other is more inclined to be fair and recognize a lot of people are in the position they are in through no fault of their own! They don't blame the victim!
