The "left-rigth polarization" technique is the most effective technique of both parties. However, and I hate to say this, I find the technique to be used in it's worse by Conservatives (Either you're with us, or you're with the terrorists). Has Clinton ever said anything like that? Even Reagan didn't go to that extreme.

Exactly.. Conservatives tend to make it all about joining them or being evil/terrorists/anti-patriots/anarchists and everything else under the sun. I've largely classified myself as an independent for a long time now. But recently after seeing the two attitudes in more action (seemingly fueled over Bush and the Iraq war), I would definitely side with liberals on these issues.

Bin Lyin: You ARE "Lyin". I've never seen or heard of a liberal saying others should leave. In fact I can dig up at least a few dozen instances in which conservatives and republicans tell liberals and democrats they should "get the hell out" or "go to France/Canada or any 'wuss' country". So where the hell do you get that liberals are trying to force conservatives out? Your blind to your own party.

Because the two groups have polar views on how things should be and how to reach goals.

The conservatives are the adults and think logically. The liberals are the children and think emotionally. When the liberals lose, they pout and whine and say it's because the fight wasn't fair. When the conservatives lose, they regroup and make a new plan for the next fight.

When liberals don't get their way they throw a temper tantrum and filibuster. When conservatives don't get their way, they accept defeat graciously.

Conservatives want people to be responsible for their own lives, liberals want the government to solve all of our problems by taking money away from people who have earned it.

Because the two parties hope the shallow minds of the world won't realize that it's just two different shades of the same thing. Neither party is looking out for the majority of American citizens. I think its time we had a political party that represented how the majority of Americans think. Republicans only care about making money. Democrats make it look better. The green party is nuts on most issues and really who votes Libertarian? The best option we have is Independent but as it is exactly that there is no consistent political logic. Finally when it all comes down to it we have to vote democrat to keep Republicans out of office. Its time for an overhaul, and don't even get me started on the electoral process!

Because they are opposing points of view. The paths liberals and conservatives wish to take the country are in opposite directions. In this country, in order to lead you must have a majority on your side.

Communism, conservatism's traditional enemy, committed suicide years ago. The right, always in need of an enemy to hate, turned on the liberal side of America as their new enemy. If they were ever able to end liberalism, I have no doubt that they would need a new enemy to hate and would fracture into splinter right-wing groups and hate each other over minutia.

Because the Cons make it that way. You won't hear a Liberal saying "you are either with us or you are with the Terrorists".

You will not get a good answer here. You will get the biased rantings of both parties made up of emotion and not facts.
