My tattoo guy uses Mimeograph paper. He tells me he can only get it from a tattoo supply wholesaler. I've tried to find another source for him in the art supplies field but there is none.
Carbon paper is different, doesn't work the same at all. The mimeograph paper transfers via alcohol.
I understand deodorant works too (because of the alcohol in it) but using it on multiple customers is a health risk.
Perhaps you could purchase some from a real tattoo artist, and get some safety advise while you're at it.

Many years ago, stencils were kept on file for each pattern, engraved into heavy plastic. You would then rub graphite into the stencil, and apply it to the vaselined skin, making a reverse image. Now we use thermal processing sheets and stencil-pro, green soap, or (in a pinch) Mennen speed stick to apply it. The stencil can be applied up to six or seven times. Have no idea about the pencils. Heard about it, never done it. Sorry.

you trace the image onto tracing paper with carbon paper and it will make the purpleish ink transfer that is able to be put onto the skin, i don't know what makes the ink transfer tho... i've seen deodorant be used and some kind of spray stuff as well.
