I read that it was going to be this way cause they have split the season into two small ones - the first mini season will show the normal characters and what happens with them, the second mini season will show the other character's stories (the others).

YES IT IS!!--'LOST" returns feb 7th after a 3 month hiatas.
the reason that I heard and read was due to fan dissaproval of
the many "breaks" during the regular season. so the powers that be opted to take an early break(get it over with)- then show 16 consecutive shows begining on feb 7th

They are doing this so we won't have months full of repeats. (Which I personally did not mind).
They will be airing the new show 'Daybreak' in it's place until February. (Looks stupid to me).
Each season only has a certain amount of episodes made so this is how they have decided to split it up this year.
Go figure...

Because last year and the year before people thought that reruns were 'kind of annoying,' so they're trying to make people happy by having two blocks with no reruns.

Reason is so many people complained about repeats last season that they are doing it this way. When it comes back in Feb they will have 16 new episodes until end of season.

They have to stay competitive for the Emmys with other shows that premiere in the spring. like the Sopranos and other premium cable shows. Many shows and networks do this during the holidays.
