The library and/or the internet, if you prefer self-study. Other than that, I suggest taking a job at a auto repair shop, and look over the shoulder of the mechanic!

Some high schools offer an auto mechanics tech school. If you are older than that, get a job anywhere they work on cars. Start applying for anything in the biggest place you can find and work your way up learning as you go. Even after you get a job, if it isn't a place where you can learn and progress, keep your applications updated in the places you want to work. Read books on the specifics of what you want to learn. You may want to specialize and may only have to take some short courses which the employer may pay for. Godspeed

There are trade scools on the subject like ITT, and other things.. i guess i should ask what discipline you are interested... mechanics? Electronics? what then?
