A biography is a story written about a specific persons life written by someone else. An auto-biography is a story written about a specific persons life by that specific person.

Biography (from the Greek words bios meaning life, and graphein meaning write) is a genre of literature and other forms of media like film, based on the written accounts of individual lives. While a biography may focus on a subject of fiction or non-fiction, the term is usually in reference to non-fiction. As opposed to a profile or curriculum vitae, a biography develops a complex analysis of personality, highlighting different aspects of it and including intimate details of experiences. A biography is more than a list of impersonal facts like birth, education, work, relationships and death. It also delves into the emotions of experiencing such events.
An autobiography, from the Greek auton, 'self', bios, 'life' and graphein, 'write', is a biography written by the subject or composed conjointly with a collaborative writer (styled "as told to" or "with"). The term dates from the late eighteenth century, but the form is much older.

A biography is where someone writes about the life story of someone else. An autobiography is where the author of the story is writing their own historical account about theirself. For instance, Bill Clinton writing a book about his own presidency would be considered an autobiography. If someone else wrote about his presidency it would be considered a biography.
Normally biographies and autobiographies refer to the historical account of the person's entire life. However it can be about just a segment of their life instead of the whole thing like with President Bill Clinton for example, just the 8 years of his presidency could be covered.
