Well if you're asking how to completely lose the drive so you can load a new OS then I would use the old FDISK, and remove the partition, then again using FDISK.. create a new partition, then load your new OS.

stick the Win 98 SE Installer in the cd-rom

choose boot from disk w/ cdrom support
type in fdisk
delete the partitions and creat new ones

windows will be ready to install, it wil format the disk first... then follow all other steps.

1) install installation disk or cd
2) select fdisk
3) select delete partition, than repartition than restart comp.
4) Select reformat, c:\format c:
5) select yes to reformat
6) if windows 98 make sure it reformats fat32 if windows xp should be formatted NTFS
7) always let windows reformat during the installation process.

If you want to reinstall win98 again then you will have to use dos based formatting. If you want to install win xp, then it has on screen repartitioning and formatting capability.
