I had to give a nine year old boy his bath last weekend while baby sitting him and was shocked to see he had was able to have an erection, i was so embarresed, he didnt seem to know what was going on. Is this normal for a nine year old and what should I have done or said? I have been baby sitting him for years and now this. What do I do in the future?

I am not washing him, he washs himself, but the parents want me in there so in case sometning may happen! he was just washing himself and i noticed it? when do boys know its something different?

O f coarse a 9 year old can get an erection. mthey can get them when they're 3 and it does not mean all the time that they are horny. my step-mom just used to tell my little bro that he was growing or cold and not to pee with it like that because they'll get it everywhere. However, nine year old boys are starting to wonnder about sex and everything else by that time so they can get up for some reasons. A nine year old boy should know how to bath himself. i was bathing myself by the time i was 6 or 7. my 9 year old bro is taking his own showers now and would like privacy, it's time for him to have privacy.

Boys have erections even as an infant, it's just not very noticeable. The reaction is normal, however, by the age of 9 I'd think the boy would be washing himself by now. Why are you washing him? Is he incapable of doing it for himself? If not, I think it best that you let his parents/guardians know about what is happening. He may or may not know why he is getting an erection. And it would probably be a good idea if you didn't wash him yourself anymore. It is also possible that he may be starting to go through puberty as well. But, don't freak out on the kid PLEASE. Just take it in stride that he is a growing boy and changes will start soon if they haven't already.

A 9 year old is able to bath himself. You should not be doing this. I would explain to his parents that you think that he is old enough to bathe himself, and that you no longer feel comfortable doing this.
It is normal for a boy of any age to get an erection. They have nerve endings in the penis from before birth and those nerves can be stimulated at any time.

boys can get erections as infants!!!!! It is normal, and you should say or do nothing. and while he is taking a bath give a bit more privacy, stay in hall way, he will be fine he is nine years old and should be able to take a bath alone.

I think you shouldn't be bathing a nine year old, he's old enough to do it by himself...my babysitter never gave me a bath when I was 9...maybe talk to the mom and tell her about the situation and how uncomfortable you are.

It may not have been an erection, it could have been just your imagination on things. Also, he is coming up on that age where boys are beginning to experience those kinds of things. Cut the boy some slack.

Fetuses and children of any age can get erections. It's no big deal- just ignore it. If his parents want you in there, I'd read a book or do something else distracting.

umm... they usually notice it earlier than that, like 7 from what i have heard. but for crying out loud he is 9 years old!, unless he has some kind of mental illness he should be capable of taking a bath alone and needs to learn how soon.

Teach him how to take a bath. At 9 years old, both my sister and I could bath on our own.

you do not mention it,and a 9 year old boy can bath himself as long as you are near in another room maybe ,
