What would be smoother - the earth or the bowling ball?

The only analogy I've ever heard is this, "if you shrunk the earth down to the size of a Billiard Ball (pool ball) then the Earth would feel smoother than the Billiard Ball." Sorry, so I'd go with the earth again.

The bowling ball because the ocean depths are considered even deeper than previously thought and they maybe a bit more detectable than the other bumps and crevices on the bowling ball.
