Why all of a sudden after the democrats took ove everything he decided to run and hide by submitting his resignation. and is'nt this what they accused the democrats of CUT AND RUN??? I meen if they were realy into makins sure we won the war he should have stuck around. or is he HIDING SOMETHING???

I don't think he is running I think he was SACRIFICED to the public so that Bush could side track the news cycle away from the Democrats and appear as if he really cared about what the American public told him at the poles Tuesday. Bush could have fired him anytime he wanted don't you find his timing intresting? Although I have wanted Rumsfeld out of office for a long time I find the President's methods/timing suspect. Think about it a bit.

He's been unjustly accused of a lot of henious things by the cranky Democrats and he's probably had enough of that thankless job. I don't believe that anything's been hidden seeing that with so many people in government that have no honor, there's no secrets that stay secret for long.

He is gone because Bush is making compromises with Pelosi in the hopes of compromises that benefit him in the future. I'm sure Bush asked him to go. That's how the game is played.
