There are no real advantages, only perceived ones!

There isn't enough space to list all of the disadvantages.

If some one was to do an honest cost/benefit analysis, very few would own one.

ADVANTAGES:
1) Pay phones have become all but non-existant since cell phones came along. If you need to make a call you're screwed.
2) If you stay at a friend's house, you can call "long distance" without having to screw with phone cards, etc.
3) Freeways don't have land lines when your car breaks down (See number "1" above).
4) A Cell can double as a watch, and planner, among other things.

DISADVANTAGES:
1) 911 service is spotty
2) Dropped calls
3) Cost
4) Spotty service area coverage

I know several people who dropped their landline at home altogether and just use the cell.

disadvantages
1. sometimes when i go out whether its shopping or out with friends or my family, i don't want to be bothered but i have the phone on and when i look to see that its my son or husband i answer it because i think its an emergency, but they are really just calling for something really stupid.
2. sometimes u forget to turn it off and it begins to ring at the most inappropriate times. like at church, work, restaurants.
3. as soon as your phone rings everyone starts to look to see if its their phone ringing.
4. its harder to dodge calls from people because u can't say i wasn't around, the phone is always with u.
5. u don't always get service everywhere u go
advantages
1. emergencies, car breaks down, car accident
2 convenience, one time i lost my sister in a huge mall, i took out my phone and called her. another time i was on the third floor and my husband was just coming home, i called him to tell him to get something out of my car. another time he called me at the supermarket to tell me to grab something.
3.u wil never miss a call
