That is really a very personal choice. Many people choose these days not to get married. I personally, would want a commitment after so many years. And if I were living with a man we would have to be married. No freebies here. Cannot get all of the benefits of marriage without the commitment from me. Good luck and God bless

Marriage or a long term commitment is the same thing...without that piece of paper. It requires the same amount of effort to keep the relationship going. Some people want that added security of being married, where others do not. The problem lies when one of the couple involved wants marriage and the other one doesn't.

I have been on both sides and honestly I would rather make our relationship official by getting married, but that's just my opinion. If you have been living with your partner for 16 yrs you are essentially living as a married couple, minus the ring and piece of paper.

As long as it's working out for both of you, why change the way things are?

Personally, I would like to be married. Some people say, "What's the big deal? I love you, I'm committed to you, why do we need the paper?" While I think that's legitimate, my response is, "If it's not a big deal, why not just do it?" Sounds like you and your partner have a relationship that is essentially like a marriage - length of time together and having a child. Why not make it official?

People will often throw the cliche around that marriage is only a bit of paper.

Well it is not. It is about a set of promises you make another person that you would rather die for than to go back on.

Marriage is about a union between you, your partner and God. Rather than ask if you should, maybe you could ask yourself:

Why do I want to get married?

What will it change?

first of all you are to young to have a kid, and secondly you shouldnt get married just because you have a kid unless you love her, because it will only cause problems in the long run good luck
