Based on History, it's only a matter of time. If more US citizens continue on with the: "Who cares?" "I don't care" attitude, "etc", we stand less and less of a chance to preserve the original idea, that only 230 years ago became... The United States.

Would are founding fathers be proud or disappointed, by "what" we have allowed our government to become?

Not in the near future. The USA is far and away the most powerful nation the world has ever seen.

Everyone seems to think China is already there. Not so. China has nukes, this is true, but then, so do we, and China wouldn't dare use them against us or anyone else, because the Chinese know that we will turn them and the whole world inot a glass parking lot if we had to.

China is also way behind us economically. It has four times our population, yet only produces ONE TENTH of the wealth that we do.

Europe won't EVER become a "superpower." The only reason Europe is able to do what it does is because WE have pledged to protect it militarily. Europe isn't even doing that great now anway, economically speaking.

America will remain the world's greatest superpower for a LONG time to come.

I don't know about a superpower greater than the USA but I do think there will come a time where countries combine to create a one world power

As all Brazilian people I do believe that Brazil is a country that could become on the future a new superpower on the word, but never greater than USA.
China is on it's way too, as well as many other countries, but none should be greater than USA. Maybe I should finish this answer saying that only USA can surpass or diminish itself.

Doubtful. At least not ONE country in the near future.

The EU, if it stays together, already is rivalling the US in many areas - economy, etc.

China challenges us in sheer manufacturing and manpower, but is still behind technically. However, that gap narrows with every factory placed there to manufacture technical items. The chinese are MASTERS at reverse engineering.

Russia is still a threat, but lacks the technology.. today.. to be a real threat alone.

The REAL Super Power we face is the world. With our foreign policy, soon it will become more and more difficult to remain legitimate. China is already preferring Euros to Dollars for investments, oil suppliers are selling more and more oil to China and the EU in protest of our policies. We have lost the confidence of Latin America. Even Canada (America Lite) is bucking us more and more often.

If we do not JOIN the world community, rahter than trying to bully the world community, you can get yourself a nice seat to watch "Nero" play his fiddle while our proverbial Rome burns.

Not likely, America has enough money to buy any country that came close. We spend over 500 Billion on defence alone and that was only 4% of America's GNP.

What do you mean, "will come"? China already is, and three others (Europe, India and South America) are on the rise.

The end of the US empire may signal the end of militarism and strictly one of economic wars.

Anything is possible. Those of us who lived through the Cold War period never thought that East Germany or the Soviet Union would fall.

Well, England fell, Rome fell, guess that means someone will take our place. I for one look forward to it, then the USA can stop sending welfare to the rest of the world.
