There's no instant cure for the common cold but............
I'm surprised no one has suggested any of these over-the-counter products. I've used ColdEze since it came out in the early to mid 90's I think. A cold normally runs it's course in about 10 days, not 3 days as another poster stated. Using any one of the products below can shorten that duration to 3 and at the same time, greatly reduce the symptoms.

1. ColdRX which contains zinc and echinacea
2. ColdEeze (not sure of spelling), which is actually Zinc
3. Airborne which can provide 3 hours of resistance against the cold when you are in places that might expose you to the germs. Places like classrooms, stores, offices, malls, etc.

All three of these products will also shorten the duration of a cold if you already have one.

Ususally a cold itself only lasts about 3 days. You may have a UR infection, which seems like it is still a cold. Try odorless garlic pills, they work as a natuarl antibioctic. And add vitamin C supplement too, they help biuld your system up to fight colds and infections. Generally a good way to prevent a cold from coming back on you, is wash your hands more often, wash your bedding, and use a disinfectant around your house, and in your vehical, that will help you from getting the virus back into your body.
Hope you feel better soon.

The best way to get rid of cold is natural home remedies as its 100% safe and secure. I have compiled some home remedies with the hope that it will work for you.

* A ginger tea can be prepared by boiling ginger in normal tea. It gives relief to congested nose.
* Drink a teaspoonful of ginger juice mixed with equal quantity of honey.
* Add 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 shot of lemon juice, 1 shot of whiskey to a coffee cup. Fill the remainder of the coffee cup with steaming hot water, stir, and sip until cold is relieved.
* Take 1 tbsp of fresh gooseberry juice with 1/2 tsp ginger. It is a very effective remedy. This can be taken regularly to prevent recurrence of cold.
* Boil 1 tbsp of pepper powder in a cup of milk along with a pinch of turmeric. Add some sugar for taste. Drink this once a day for three days.

For more home remedies look for some good educational health sites. And if you have serious cold problem then you should go to some health specialist.

I use frankincense oil mixed with pine oil. Put on a tissue overnight in your bedroom. About 5-6 drops in all. Have used that for 3 years now and it works wonders. if you got a blocked nose add some eucalyptus (1 or 2 drops)

There is no cure for the common cold, but there are meds that you can take at the onset to lessen it's duration and/or severity. At this point all you can really do is let it run it's course and take things to help you feel better. Get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids.

Echinacea - see Holland and Barratt or use the bach flower remedy - you can get it in drops at boots. it tastes awful, but use a few drops in some water - it really does the trick.. Best thing is to use it for 2 weeks continuously from the time you start getting symptoms....

I find using an own brand Cold & Flu capsules (like boots own brand) and paracetamol in between, Eating right (3 meals a day with good snacks inbetween) and plenty of sleep, oh yeah and time, you can help speed up the process of getting rid of a cold, but you cant make it simply dissapear im afraid

What we call a cold is the body's reaction to a virus infection. You can't cure a cold. By the time you start feeling the symptoms, your immune symptom has probably already killed the virus. What you're feeling is the damage it's done.

Drinking hot fruit juice with a pinch of ginger will help to clear your head, but it won't make the cold go away any quicker.

Chicken broth, soup if you can stand it. don't use mouth wash or tooth paste but brush/floss with water. Take it easy but take a walk outside if you can...not a real long one, Rest, Do not masturbate. Do not wear yourself out. Take extra vitamin C for a few days, more if you don't eat a healthy diet. Stay away from frivilous arguements unless you are willing to be unreasonable.
