that his goal in managing the Flyers was to achieve success approaching that of the Habs, has your team ever put up a stinker of a start like the Flyers are going through now. Specifically, does the man in charge take winning so seriously as to change coaches as often as we have done here in Philly? Does the team have a payroll that allows them to sign players that can help them immediately, or do they rely on building through the draft? Are the Canadiens suffering from their winning consistency like the Flyers in that it keeps them away from the top amateur picks? I'd like to know what similarities you detect between our teams. By the way, I'm one of those that feels the Broad Street Bullies had their time in the spotlight and it was time to retire the idea in the 80's. Why? Seven trips to the finals and 2 cups to show for it.

the Montreal Canadiens have a system and they are the only team in the NHL that sticks with it. we draft we trained, most teams use there draft picks as bait, or they never play with the team that drafted them. the Canadiens had always drafted players but never rushed them in to action when they were to young as most teams do today. but throughout the 90's was as you can call it the "Dark Ages" for the Canadiens cause new teams came in to the league and the salarys sky rocketed through the roof. But the Habs staid with there system and it really hurt but im still happy they did what they did, by sticking with there plans. Montreal wasnt going to give some player $3 million if he will not give his all every game thats there system and that player only averages 30 to 40 points a game thats not a player that deserves $3 million a year, but what mad things worst was that other teams were willing to pay that player that $3 million so thats what mad hockey so though thrue the 90's. just look at J.P Dumont from Buffalo wanted $2.9 million a year, do you really believe a player that averages 30 pts a year deserves that no but the Predators gave it to him. now you look at the Islanders giving DiPietro $67 million to a goalie that hasnt proved he was a true number one goalie, if Brodeur or Luongo really wanted to just imagine what this two would get if DiPietro got 67 million. that really hurts the game but with the new salary cap in place this will make the game better and you will see my Habs starting to bring the Stanley cup back home. and remember it was the Habs that destroyd the Flyers system in the 70's and i don't understand why Clarke wanted to live in those days when they were over by 1976.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You mean, stumbling along since 1993 without really having a shot at the Cup? I actually think the Flyers are doing much better to be honest. They usually do well every second year in the playoffs.

Has Philly changed coaches as much as other teams? Even the Habs have rotated thru the Julien, Therrien, Vigneault, Tremblay, Burns, etc.

Philly has done a bit of both and the young guys they drafted will be alright. Problem is overpaying for guys like Gratton or signing the wrong goalies.

The Habs don't have Sam Pollock anymore. Sure they bagged a couple thanks more to Roy than Savard's genius but they do not look like they are upholding Cup tradition in Mtl at all.

Hey, I'd take 7 Finals and 2 Cups. I'm a Canucks fan. Stop whining.

Yeah, Clarkey leaving is good as signing Hatcher and Rathje was just plain stupid. Too slow for the speedy new NHL.

Relax, our Flyers will be back in the Final, methinks, well before the habs ever are under Gainey. Nice signing in Samsonov. Just what the Habs need--more shrimpy guys to not protect Koivu.

The Montreal Canadian team I believe has changed with the new NHL. I am not sure why Clark had such a hard time adjusting. Maybe he was really burnt out. The Canadians have missed the playoffs a few times recently, the Flyers have been in. I have to be honest I split time between NY and Philly and I am a Ranger fan. I do not know how the Flyers got this bad so quickly. They just do not have the horses, They should dangle Forsberg, not a great choice for captain anyway, the guy plays 40 games a year. Maybe Hatcher can be a good d man on another team , but not the center piece. Get a Goalie, Start the rebuilding ther even if it means moving Gange. I pick up books about he Flyers at the Borders in town here. They are truly a team that lives in the past. Off topic. I have to really give Sather some credit. I wanted him gone. He has rebounded strong. Of course the rebirth of Jagr has played a huge part.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have not received a Stanley Cup in view that 1967. they have not lengthy gone to the jap convention Finals in years. The Montreal Canadians have received extra Championships than any crew except the long island Yankees. The Canadians have not received the Stanley Cup in view that 1993, which for them is the longest drought of their heritage. Montreal Canadians followers does not tolerate the undesirable finishes and undesirable seasons that the Maple Leafs have had.
